3-DAY
(2 NIGHTS). NORTHERN HERITAGE
Tohoku (Northern Japan) is less industrialized,
agricultural area. In the 11th century the Fujiwara clan operated a strong
local government independent from the Kyoto's aristocratic central power.
The three generations of Fujiwaras nurtured a level of culture comparable
to that of Kyoto, and unequaled by any other local area. You will visit
Konjikido (Golden Hall) of Chusonji Temple, one of Japan's best historic
and cultural legacies. The 4th leader of the Fujiwaras was defeated by
the first shogun of Minamoto clan in 1189, and the 100-year long prosperity
of the north disappeared, never to return. Fujiwara-no-sato historic theme
park features the reconstruction of the 11th-12th centuries glories. You
will enjoy sightseeing tour of the area by chartered car. A driver may
speak little English, but he will escort you to the places of interest.
Because Tohoku is the true off-the-beaten path this is the only method
of worry-free travel of the area for foreign visitors. You will experience
Japanese lifestyle, delicious cuisine featuring local specialties and
fresh seafood, and northern hospitality in Hanamaki Onsen hot springs
resort.
Minimum 2 persons.
Departures from Tokyo on Sun., Mon., Tue. & Wed.
Adult $840, Child (6-11) $699. Single room
supplement $164.
Meals: 2 breakfasts and 2 dinners are included.
Transportation: 5-day East Japan Rail Pass (coach class) is included in
the tour fare.
ITINERARY:
DAY 1. TOKYO/ICHINOSEKI/HANAMAKI (D)

Golden Hall, etc.). Then, you enjoy a drive through beautiful farmland
to Fujiwara-no-sato historic theme park. Featuring the reconstruction
of Fujiwara clan's government hall, mansions and gardens you can imagine
vividly the life of the powerful clan in the 1th-12th centuries. Then,
you will proceed to Hanamaki Onsen hot springs resort. You will stay at
a ryokan. Enjoy buffet dinner and hot springs baths.
DAY 2. HANAMAKI (B/D)

by chartered car. The 4-hour tour costs $150 per person, and must be booked
in advance.
